How you doin fellows, If you are on this page it’s safe to assume that you are a fan of the best show humanity has ever witnessed-‘Friends’
(Little too much?… Yeah well it is for me)
In December of 2019 Warner Bros celebrated 25 years of ‘Friends” in a unique way.
Warner Bros in association with Prop Store auctioned props, costumes, scripts, a canoe, some turkeys, and more from the production of Friends.
Over 80 Lots were available for bidding starting from 3rd December-17th December.
All lots came directly from warner bros with a certificate of authenticity.
All the earnings that came from the auction were sent to an NGO The Trevor Project
The Trevor Project is a 1998 founded NGO that focuses on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth.
This list is like delight to the eyes for every friends fan
Before getting at the top 10 auctioned list let’s look at some miscellaneous ones props that didn’t sell for a lot but they will surely put a smile on your face
So without any further due let’s get at the list of top props and winning bids.
Spoiler Alert, Huggsy was auctioned at 8500
So First on the list is
Friends Quote: “All right joe, you remember the rules- Heads I win, tales you lose”
A cast-autographed finale episode part one script from the episode “The Last One Part I”.
I personally never like watching the last episode of Friends (For the obvious reason), Both the episode and the price of this copy bring tears to my eyes.
But this lot was the top sale of the whole auction with a $22,000 top bid.
Given the chance and considering you have a lot of money, How much would you bid for this lot? Tell me in the comment section
“Ross: I just want to be married again
(Rachel enters in her wedding dress)
Chandler: And I just want a million dollars”
An autographed pilot episode script from the episode “The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate (Pilot)”.
Personally I would have paid more for the pilot episode script then for the last episode,
The first episode is one of those episodes that I have binged the most and would be loved to see it as a top bid, Nevertheless, it’s still on No.2
The lot went for $15,000 making it the second most priced lot in the auction.
Do you think this lot should have been in the first position? Let me know in the comment section
To cover more interesting items in this list I will just tell you the price of all the scripts that went into auction all at once
A studio-edition authorized reproduction Central Perk couch from Seasons 1 through 10 of Friends.Dimensions: 90″ x 45″ x 40″ (229 cm x 114.5 cm x 102 cm)
Though the couch is not the original prop used in the show, But for me, it definitely says “I’ll be there for you”
The couch is technically not the third costliest lot on the list, At number three we have Cast-Autographed Finale Episode Part Two Script at $11,500.
Would you not love to have one of these, Well you have the dimensions so you can get it made for you.
“Joey: Wait right here.
Chandler: oh no-no-no, I’m paddling away !”
Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing’s wood canoe and two paddles from the episode “The One with the Cat”.
In the episode, Joey and Chandler are forced to buy a canoe for their apartment after they are robbed of all their furniture
Joey and Chandler sure had a lot of fun in their apartment But in the episode the look on their face when they sit in the canoe is priceless.
This lot went for $10,500
Here’s a cringy joke:
The directors of friends wanted to gift phoebe a boat but they weren’t sure if Lisa-Kud-Row.
“Rachel: you’re going to take hugsy away from a little child?
Joey: How do you think I got him in the first place ?”
Joey Tribbiani’s secret bedtime penguin pal Huggsy appears for the first time in Joey’s apartment in “The One with the Inappropriate Sister”,
though without the glasses and waistcoat it wears in future episodes.
Personally this would have been my pick out of the whole lot (Coz it’s hugsy !). I actually bought one from eBay but that was really a bad remake.
This loved memorabilia went for $8500 (Take lucky man!)
Friends Quote: “ My favorite part was when Superman flew all the jews out of Egypt”
Joey Tribbiani’s Superman costume from the episode “The One with the Holiday Armadillo”.
In the episode, Joey wears his costume when he and Chandler Bing,
who is dressed as Santa Claus, interrupts Ross Geller’s lesson about the Jewish Festival of Lights for his son, Ben
This lot went for $6,250.This lot is our first entry in the costume section and it certainly is a super one.
To include more items in the list I will just include all the costumes auctioned together
Smell the fart acting technique:
“It’s like, you got so many lines to learn so fast, that sometimes you need a minute to remember your next one. So while you’re thinkin’ of it, you take this big pause where you look all intense.”
Joey Tribbiani’s Soapie Award and envelope from the episode “The One with Joey’s Award”.
In the episode, Joey angrily gives out the award for Favorite Supporting Actress at the Soapies after losing in his own category for the role of Dr. Drake Ramoray.
The award and the original envelope bagged $5000, That’s sure a lot of money for an award joey didn’t win (But he certainly did win our hearts).
Ross Geller’s apartment side table from Seasons 1 through 10 of Friends. Ross’ wood table often appears beside a light gray armchair in the paleontologist’s sophisticated apartment
I honestly didn’t notice this table in the series (This is the table he didn’t buy from the flea market) but considering it’s an original prop (and the cool design) it is worth the cost
“This hand is your hand, this hand is my hand, No wait that’s your hand, Oh no that’s my hand!”
Rachel Green’s Vegas wedding bouquet from the episode “The One in Vegas: Part 2”.
In the episode, Chandler Bing and Monica Geller decide to get married in a Las Vegas chapel, only to discover that Ross Geller and Rachel have just done the same.
When you have a chance to catch Rachels’s wedding bouquet you sure don’t miss. This lot went for $3,100.
“ Ursula: I’m going to a concert tomorrow. so I invite you but I only have two tickets”
Last on the list we have Ursula Buffay’s “Buffay The Vampire Layer” VHS tape from the episode “The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry”
I really didn’t expect this to be on the top 10 list but here we are. The lot went for an astonishing $2,900.
It makes sense you know since Ursula is hotter than phoebe (LOL).
As a Friends Fan getting to know about these props was really fun, I got to relive the whole show altogether
(Even after binge-watching it for 1000 times).
The show got me through some of my toughest times and it still is, Whenever I am upset I just watch Friends and I don’t know how I am laughing again
Please tell me about your love for friends in the comment section and remember I’ll be there for you
